- In this blog post, we will explore the attribution of affiliations in OpenAlex for German universities in the federal state of Lower Saxony. As a basis of comparison, we use the institutional coding system of the Bielefeld Unviersity, which is provided by the Kompetenznetzwerk Bibliometrie (KB). An analysis of over 70,000 journal articles reveals a large overlap between both data sources. Building on these findings, we also present the preliminary results from our faculty mapping procedure, which can be used to assign affiliation strings to suborganisations within a given university.
